The workshop will cover available loan programs, including various down payment assistance programs. Learn how credit works, how to interpret your credit report, and the many factors that could influence your credit scores.

Finally, we’ll dive into business management with the importance of creating a safe work environment, compensation, and record keeping.

Building a Childcare Business

Participants will understand crucial business elements necessary to set up and operate a successful home-based child care program. This program is geared towards new and established family home providers seeking to strengthen their business practices to meet the expectations for funding opportunities, quality standards, facility upgrades, marketing, financial management, and personnel management.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify the components of a business plan including mission and vision statements, and strategic goals as clear reference points that communicate their business philosophy
  • Choose a marketing strategy to best support recruitment, retention, and ongoing communication with families
  • Explore tools to assist in managing, monitoring, and measuring their financial goals
  • Determine eligibility to access city, county, and state resources for tuition subsidy, facility upgrades, and program operation funding
  • Identify staffing needs and understand the legal compensation, benefits, insurance, and workplace safety requirements.

Google & AI for Business ” is an educational initiative tailored for small businesses, emphasizing digital literacy and the practical application of Google’s tools and artificial intelligence. The program aims to equip small business owners and entrepreneurs with essential digital skills, enabling them to harness the power of modern technology for business growth and innovation. Through a comprehensive curriculum, “Google & AI for Business” provides hands-on learning experiences, ensuring participants can effectively integrate digital tools and AI strategies into their business practices, enhancing efficiency, decision-making, and competitive edge.

  • Workshop 1: Creating a Business Plan using Google Sheets & AI.
  • Workshop 2: Creating a Project Proposal using Google Docs & AI.
  • Workshop 3: Creating a Project Management Website using Google Sites & AI.
  • Workshop 4: Creating a Marketing Pitch using Google Slides & AI.

Delivery: These workshops will be presented in 2-hour standalone sessions, designed for both independent and cumulative learning.

Business Reality Check

The Reality Check series will take participants through the business plan development and complete a rough draft of their business plan. The series is broken down into four intensive modules. On graduation day, participants will have the opportunity to share their business plan or their business pitch.

  • Self-assessment readiness and personal net worth
  • Money (business financials with sales forecast, profit & loss, break even, and balance sheet)
  • Marketing plan
  • Management and operations plan
